FAQ

If i already know how to hunt, can i book this as a self guided hunt?

No, this is a fully guided experience, we take pride in introducing and educating kids about the outdoors and prefer to be present on the hunt.

What age does my child need to be?

We suggest being 10 years or older, but that is not required. In the state of Iowa, you have to purchase your youth whitetail license before turning 16.

Can i bring along additional family members to stay at the cabin for the experience?

Pending availability for lodging, this is an option. We would love to have your family experience the deer camp environment! There would be additional costs associated.

What do we do with our whitetail deer after we harvest it?

We will field dress the deer at camp and get it cooled for proper meat safety. We can direct you to a meat locker to get your deer meat processed for you to enjoy.

What style of hunting should I expect?

We will predominately hunt out of enclosed elevated box blinds overlooking food sources. This allows the hunters and guide more concealment to teach & explain hunting tactics. Occasionally we can spot and stalk if the opportunity arises.

Testimonials.

  • My son and I utilized Young Guns Outdoors for his first deer hunt. Marty was great throughout the process. He communicated early on what licenses and gear we needed and engaged with my 14-year-old son to make him feel comfortable and welcomed. Every step of the hunt went great, and the best part was seeing the joy when he shot his first deer! My son is hooked and can't wait for his next hunt!

  • My son and I have been wanting to experience deer hunting for a long time and have never had the oppertunity to do so. We discovered Young Guns Outdoors through a friend and decided to reach out to see what it was all about. After arranging a weekend in southern Iowa we made the trip and discovered a true gem. They have built an incredible getaway, not just for hunting, but for anyone that enjoys the outdoors, peace and quiet. Marty and his son Mason were our guides for the hunt. We learned more than I would have ever imagined about the lay of the land, deer movement and general hunting safety and strategy. True professionals in every aspect. Overall, were so happy that we made the excursion a reality. Oh, the ten point buck that my son harvested was pretty cool too:) Thank you Young Guns Outdoors!
